No more draughty, rotten, inefficient sash windows.

Using revolutionary 10mm thick double glazed units we can retro fit sash windows, retaining the original appearance but with all the benefits of double glazing.

Not only can we restore sash windows to their original condition by focussing on both the mechanical and aesthetic aspects of the window, we can improve insulation and can save you money on heating bills.

Sash Window Restoration

Victorian sashes or Georgian glazing bars

If your home has original sash windows there’s a good chance that they don’t retain heat, they might leak or be draughty. It is now possible after decades of research to replace the glazing in sash windows with 10 – 12mm thick highly efficient double glazed units. These panels are so finely detailed that they can be fitted into Victorian sashes or Georgian glazing bars and not be noticed. It turns a cold inefficient period window into a condensation free unit while retaining the original integrity of the building.

Virtually all our customers opt for the double glazed system.

Repairing rotten window frames

Replacement is the last option

It’s not often necessary to replace windows or window frames when rot has taken a foothold. The replacement of an original window should be the last option.

By combining modern technology with good carpentry skills we cut out rotten timbers and splice in new wood ensuring that the problem is resolved permanently, rather than a short term fix.

We are recognised, fully qualified users of the “window care” resin system, which will leave the effected area looking as good as new.

Overhauling and Draughtproofing

Traditional Sash Windows have always been draughty, noisy and prone to letting dust and dirt in whilst allowing heat to rush out.

By opting us to carry out this service you will obtain the following benefits:

  • Eliminates draughts
  • Reduces noise
  • Stops rattling
  • Improves insulation
  • Reduces dirt and dirt ingress
  • Provides balanced windows
  • Improves security
  • Ensures smooth running windows
  • Provides fault free windows

We also offer an overhaul and draught seal service to casement windows and doors.

Double Glazed Sash Windows

Originality with benefits

Wherever possible we leave the existing frame in place, but repair as necessary. Most people prefer to keep the original wooden frames because they retain the originality of the building. The sash is removed, and the single glazing taken out. The sash is then stripped, prepared and fitted with double glazed units just 10-12mm thick which allows them to be fitted to most single glazed openings.

The benefits of double glazed units

  • The units offer excellent insulation due to the thermally efficient inert gas (xenon or krypton) sandwiched between the two panes of glass.
  • Low emissivity glass used for the inner pane reflects heat back into the room.
  • Once fitted the units will have the same appearance as the originals but will have all the benefits of double glazing.
  • Replacing one square metre of single glazing will give you a saving of approx., 90kg of carbon dioxide emissions per year by cutting heat loss, which will save money on heating bills.
